Juan C. Rivera

Juan C. Rivera, age 65, of West Chester, PA, passed away peacefully on Friday, April 4, 2025, at the VA Community Living Center in Philadelphia.

Born on April 20, 1959, in Toa Alta, Puerto Rico, Juan was the beloved son of Eva Vega and the late Juan Febus Rivera. He was raised in West Chester and graduated from West Chester Henderson High School.

Juan proudly served in the United States Military, enlisting on April 13, 1979, and receiving his honorable discharge on October 7, 1981. He carried that pride throughout his life, often spending time at the Coatesville VA, where he enjoyed saying hello to everyone he passed and visiting the Canteen.

Juan was a quiet, thoughtful soul who found comfort in his routines and simple joys. He loved his alone time, often walking to the local WAWA for his favorite cigarettes, hoagie and iced tea, then enjoying them while sitting by the back door of the house. He had a deep love for reading — especially magazines, books, and most of all, the Bible. One of his favorite ways to connect with others was through phone calls; he loved reaching out to family and friends, catching up, sharing stories, or just leaving a message.

Juan is survived by his mother, Eva Vega; his brother, Alex Rivera; and his sisters, Lissette Rivera, Lynn Rivera, Melissa Rivera, and Annette Rivera. He was preceded in death by his father, Juan Febus Rivera, and sister Evelyn Rivera.

Juan’s gentle spirit, steady presence, and thoughtful heart will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.

Relatives and friends are invited to his visitation on Saturday, April 12, 2025 from 9:00 am - 10:45 am at the St. Agnes Church 233 W. Gay St. West Chester, PA 19380, followed by his Funeral Mass at 11am. Interment will be private.
