John Schuyler deRussy. 39 Born July 13,1982 unexpectedly passed May 14,2022, 3rd of his name. Sock bomber extraordinaire. A cook for strangers. A dropper of rhymes. A dude who was ugly and his mother dressed him funny. But he always loved you more.
John won almost every rap battle he entered. He could not win the battle that is a common thread in our lives. And so, peacefully, in his sleep, John lost his battle with drug addiction that was fueled by mental illness.
John grew up in West Chester, yet called Norristown his home for many years, and eventually moved to Philadelphia where he helped his sister open a bar restaurant that had “John’s banging chicken cheese steak” on the menu for many years. It was, in fact, a banging good sammich.
John was born 6 weeks early, blue, and not expected to survive. He survived, thrived, grew, and before we knew it, he was a towering 6’5” person with a fluffy beard and very stinky feet. John loved his family and his friends dearly. John fell in love with poetry, literature, and music so of course he’d have a talent for rap. John was intelligent to a fault but like his father before him, often lacked common sense. He was also clumsy which isn’t a good look for a 6’5” tower of a human being whose job required the use of knives and hot surfaces.
He made the best burgers. He gave the best hugs and was always with a witty remark. Or words of support.
John is survived by his sister, Heather, who definitely did not write this obituary, his nieces Eva, Sophia and Kiri, his nephews Nicholas and Justin, his Aunt’s Robin and Edith and loving Uncle Hugh, cousins Elizabeth, Anna, Stewart, Rebecca, Tom, Jay and Kelsey on his father’s side. Aunts Cosby and Jan and uncle Joe, cousins Payton, Tessa, Cassandra and Charissa on his mom’s side.
John was predeceased by his Mother Virgina (Gil) and Father John (Carter)
