John D. Woodward

John D. Woodward, 78 years old of  West Chester, PA passed away Wednesday July 30, 2025 at Fair Acres Geriatric Center in Glen Riddle Lima.

He was the husband of the late Patsy Ann Woodward (Corcoran).

Born October 30, 1946 in West Chester, PA he was the son of the late Leon B. Woodward Sr. and the late Mary Elizabeth Woodward (Gates).

Born and raised in West Chester, he was a proud graduate of West Chester Area Senior High School.

Dave honorably served his country in the United States Army from April 11, 1966, to April 10, 1972. During his time in service, he was stationed primarily in Korea during the Vietnam War.

A hardworking craftsman, Dave spent his career as both a carpenter and a custodian. He began his work with John Thomas Construction, helping to build numerous structures throughout the West Chester area. He later joined Hoffman Lumber before ultimately serving as a head custodian for the West Chester Area School District, where he was known for his dedication and pride in his work.

Outside of work, Dave enjoyed life’s simple pleasures. He loved riding his motorcycle, collecting coins, watching the Phillies, and creating woodwork projects by hand.

He will be remembered for his strong work ethic, sense of humor, and deep roots in the community he called home.

He is survived by his daughter, Diane Conner (Matt) of West Chester, PA, daughter-in-law, Doreen Woodward and grandchildren, Meghan, Ryan and Emily.

He was preceded in death by son, John D. Woodward, Jr. and brother, Leon Woodward, Jr.

Relatives and friends are invited to his visitation on Thursday, August 7, 2025 from 9:00 am - 9:45 am at DellaVecchia, Reilly, Smith & Boyd Funeral Home, Inc. 410 North Church Street West Chester, PA 19380; followed by his Funeral Service at 10:00 am.

Interment will be held in Union Hill Cemetery Kennett Square, PA.
