Obituary

John Regan, age 85, of West Chester, passed away peacefully on June 5, 2024, at home.

He was the loving husband of the late Nancy Regan (DiFelice) with whom he shared 49 years of marriage and raised three daughters: Mary Ann Steward, Susan Regan-Agarwal, and Karen Stasen, wife of Christopher.

In addition to his daughters, John is survived by his sisters: Mary Ellen Brice and Nancy Lang; grandchildren: Meghann, Maura, Michael, Ava, Olivia, and John; and great-grandchildren: Emma, Ryan, and Willa.

John is predeceased by his parents John Regan and Ann (Smiley) Regan, and his sister Helen “Snookie” Piergalline.

A lifelong West Chester resident, John grew up in Riggtown. He attended West Chester High School (now Henderson) and received a Bachelor of Science in Education from West Chester State College (now West Chester University). He also graduated with a Master’s degree from Villanova University.

John worked as a history teacher in the state of Delaware, where he was beloved by his students and voted “Favorite Teacher” for four consecutive years until the school ended the contest.

After retiring from teaching, John worked for the County of Chester, becoming a familiar and friendly face to many while delivering the mail.

To his grandchildren, John (affectionately known as PopPop/G-Pop) was a reliable source of ice cream and popsicles, a six-time chosen confirmation sponsor, and the best ride to school.

Throughout his life, John enjoyed watching the Phillies, playing basketball and tennis, and listening to Frank Sinatra. He was passionate about reading, cold beer, visiting historical landmarks, and playing word games. John spent the last 13 years traveling, laughing, and attending church on Sundays with Mary Logiurato, which brought him great joy.

True to his Irish roots, John was integral to founding the Chester County Ancient Order of Hibernians Wolfe Tone Division 1. He was a proud Knights of Columbus Council #1333 member and was devoted to his faith, friends, and family.

John will be missed deeply by many.

Relatives and friends are invited to his Funeral Mass on Saturday June 29, 2024 10:00 am at St. Agnes Church, 233 W. Gay St., West Chester, PA 19380. The interment will be private.
