John J. McKeon, 91, of West Chester, PA, passed away peacefully on Thursday, March 5, 2026, surrounded by his family.
John was born on July 15, 1934, in Philadelphia, PA, to Joseph and Elizabeth (Hunt) McKeon. He grew up in Jenkintown and Philadelphia, PA, and graduated from West Catholic Boys High School in 1954. John served in the Army and joined the 82nd Airborne Division. He also attended St. Joe’s University.
He went on to work for Acme Markets for over 45 years and instilled in his children the importance of a strong work ethic. For the majority of those years, John was a Store Manager/Supervisor and was known for his strong leadership skills and ability to turn around a struggling store.
After his retirement, John enjoyed golfing, bird watching, and spending time with family. He especially cherished time spent with his grandchildren and attending their activities. John was an avid Philadelphia sports fan and loved to watch the Eagles and Phillies most of all.
He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Sylvia (Hauser) McKeon, and his children Jennifer (Dave) Middleman, John “Chris” (Danielle) McKeon, Doreen (Lou) Pietrantonio, Stephanie (Tony) Krzywanski, and Danielle (Bill) Cleary. John had seven beloved grandchildren: Rachel Middleman, Cole McKeon, Louis Pietrantonio, Caden McKeon, Marina Pietrantonio, Patrick Cleary, and Sloane Cleary. He is also survived by his sister Patricia “Patsy” (Al) Pakech. John had eight siblings (7 deceased), three brothers-in-law (deceased), and many nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends.
Relatives and friends are invited to his visitation on Saturday, March 14, 2026, from 10 AM – 10:45 Am at the St. Agnes Catholic Church 233 West Gay Street, West Chester, PA, followed by a Funeral Mass at 11 AM.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in John’s memory to the Alzheimer’s Association
