Joan Hagerty Giunta, 76, of West Chester, PA passed away Wednesday August 10, 2022 at her home. Born November 28, 1945 in West Chester, PA she was the daughter of the late J. Leon Hagerty and the late Dorothy M. Garvin Hagerty.
Joan graduated from George School in 1963. She worked as a hairdresser for many years and also as an office manager. For the past 22 years she held the job she loved the most, which was helping care for her grandchildren. She was involved in many activities, including volunteering for Chester County Hospital and serving on the St. Agnes school board. She was an active member of the Elks Lodge #853 and held a social membership at the Knights of Columbus Council #1333, both of West Chester.
She enjoyed traveling, reading, and most of all spending time with her family and friends. She was known for her kindness, generosity, and fun spirit. She would often be found playing games with her grandkids, attending their sporting events, or going on trips with friends. Her love of life touched many hearts over her lifetime. She will forever be remembered as a cherished friend, a loving mom, and a proud Nonna.
She is survived by her children, Peter J. Giunta Jr., Stephanie G. Walter (Keith), Taryn M. Giunta and Joseph J. Giunta (Adriennne); grandchildren JP, Nicholas, Emma, Lucas, Jeffrey, Antonia, and James. She is also survived by her brothers H. Kenneth Hagerty and Lawrence Hagerty, and sister Lynne Hagerty Perez. She was preceded in death by brother James Leon Hagerty.
Relatives and friends are invited to her visitation on Sunday, August 21, 2022 from 11am - 12:45 pm at the DellaVecchia, Reilly, Smith & Boyd Funeral Home, Inc. 410 North Church Street West Chester, PA 19380, followed by her Memorial Service at 1:00 pm. Interment will be in Private. A Celebration of Life will be held for all at the Elks Lodge, 401 West Washington St, West Chester, PA 19380, following the Memorial Service.
