“For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord. “Plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.” Jeremiah 29:11
Our dear beloved Jerry passed away on Thursday, September 17th after a brief illness at age 90. He was predeceased by his mother Mary, his father Jeremiah, and his older brother William. He is survived by his 2 sons, Christopher and Shane, their mother Beverly, and Christine Marshall, his spouse of 19 years.
Jerry was a talented musician who studied at Juilliard, and traveled with the Air Force Orchestra throughout Europe and Asia during the Korean War. He played the bassoon, clarinet and saxophone.
Returning home to New York after his military service, he established a successful career in Aircraft Sales, culminating in the position of President of Jerry Supple Aircraft Sales, Inc. located in Winston Salem, NC. Jerry received numerous awards throughout his stellar sales career. He also taught flying and flew a number of distinguished individuals to events, such as Leonard Bernstein.
Jerry was also a skilled yachtsman, sailing throughout the Caribbean as well as domestically. He handled his own sailboat and lived part time on a small yacht with Christine into his 70’s. He joined his son Christopher on a cross country motorcycle trip at 66, and cherished a final overseas adventure to Ireland in 2019 where he was able to connect with relatives still bearing the Supple name.
Though Parkinson’s Disease gradually limited his walking and perception, he lived a full life surrounded by family, friends and caregivers who adored him. We will never forget his unfailing kindness and compassion. Jerry was always ready with a quick joke and even quicker to offer his shoulder to cry on. He is deeply missed.
Autumn by Rainer Maria Rilke
“The leaves fall, fall as from far,
Like distant gardens withered in the heavens;
They fall with slow and lingering descent.
And in the nights the heavy Earth, too, falls
From out the stars into the Solitude.
Thus all doth fall. This hand of mine must fall
And lo! the other one:—it is the law.
But there is One who holds this falling
Infinitely softly in His hands.”
