Jean M. Callahan

July 24, 1928 ~ November 14, 2021 (age 93)


Jean M. Callahan, of West Chester, PA, passed away peacefully on Sunday evening, November 14, 2021 at the age of 93.

Born July 24, 1928 in Philadelphia, PA, she was the daughter of the late Herman Caudle and the late Lourinda Saunders Caudle.

Jean grew up in Philadelphia where she graduated from Frankfort High School. She had, until recently, lived at Arbour Square in West Chester where she enjoyed spending time with her friends, watching movies and going on occasional field trips. She was known for her quick wit, easy laugh, and gentle, caring personality.

Jean worked into her 80s in a variety of jobs including secretary, receptionist, and administrative assistant. She enjoyed lavishing time, care, attention and love on her four grandchildren, who are all the better for it.

She is survived by her sons Timothy W. Callahan, II, Brian P. Callahan, her daughter Jeanne M. Callahan, her grandchildren Andrew B. Callahan, James P. Callahan, Thomas R. Callahan, Ian T. Callahan and her beloved sister Jane Moynihan.

Jean also cherished her close and loving relationships with her daughters-in-law Susan S. Callahan (married to Tim), Michelle Macchia (married to Brian) and Tara Spaide (married to Jeanne) as well as with her granddaughter-in-law Stephanie Callahan (married to Andy).

She was preceded in death by her sisters Mildred, Patricia, and Joan. She was a loving and devoted aunt to Glenn, Jamie, Bill, Tom, Frank, Michael, Dan, Susan, and Kathy.

Vaccinated relatives and friends are invited to her funeral service on Friday, November 26, 2021 at 10 am at St. Francis-in-the-Fields Episcopal Church, 689 Sugartown Road, Malvern, PA 19355 

Interment will be held in the St. Francis Churchyard immediately following the service.

There will be a reception after interment in the St. Francis Parish Hall.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the American Stroke Association .
