Jane H. Cornelius

Jane H. Cornelius, 94 of West Chester, PA passed away Thursday August 7, 2025 at Tel Hai Retirement Community in Honey Brook.

She was the wife of the late Joseph W. Cornelius, with whom they shared 72 years of marriage.

Born June 20, 1931 in Philadelphia, PA she was the daughter of the late Theodore Hanna and the late Mary Pearce Hanna. Jane grew up in Ardmore, PA and graduated from Lower Merion School District. She attended Harcum College.

She worked as a switchboard operator and then was the administrative assistant to the President of Nursing at Chester County Hospital, from which she retired after 25 years of service. She was a board member of many of the high school booster clubs supporting her children in athletics.  She was also involved in the Polo Park Association in Florida, where they lived for 25 years after retirement.

Jane was a member of the Paoli Presbyterian Church for the past 10 years. 

She enjoyed spending time with her family, camping with the RV, going to Church and reading the Bible. Jane also loved being a snowbird and living in Florida during the cooler months.  

She was an avid card player and enjoyed reading and working on jigsaw puzzles.

Jane is survived by her children Debbie Gallen, James Cornelius (Myra), Susan Cornelius, and Wendy Cornelius.  She is survived by 7 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren.  

She was preceded in death by her husband Joseph, her son Joseph Jr. and her brother Theodore Hanna.

Relatives and friends are invited to her visitation on Friday, August 15, 2025 from 10:00 am - 10:45 am at Paoli Presbyterian Church 225 S. Valley Road Paoli, PA, followed by her Memorial Service at 11:00 am 

Interment will be in Birmingham Lafayette Cemetery West Chester PA.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Chester County Hospital Foundation towards the Abramson Cancer Center in Care of Jane H. Cornelius.
