James “Jim” Guarino, 67 years old, of Downingtown, PA, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, May 13, 2026, surrounded by his loving family at home.
Jim was the devoted and deeply loving husband of MaryEllen Guarino (Canavan). In addition to his wife, Jim was the proud father of his children, Joseph (Kirsten), Alexandra, Natalie (Michael Harner) and Jimmy; he is also survived by his two grandchildren, Michael and Maddison; brother, Richard Guarino (Rosemary); 6 brothers and sisters-in-law, 7 nephews and 3 nieces who deeply loved him.
Born on November 3, 1958 in Queens, NY, Jim was the son of his loving mother, Elvira “Vera” Cetta, his late father, Benedetto Guarino and his late stepfather, Michael Cetta, Jr.
Jim grew up in Dix Hills, NY, where he developed his entrepreneurial spirit. He graduated from Half Hollow Hills High School East and earned his BA Degree from Hofstra University.
His ambition set him apart from others all his life. When Jim set a goal, he achieved it. He was a successful business partner with his brother, Richard Guarino, for 10 years at Eastech Security. After selling that company, he became a successful business owner for 30 years at US Funding Services, LLC, where his wife and children will continue to grow his legacy.
He could not have been more proud of his children, who are carrying on his legacy in more ways than one. Jim was well respected by all his business associates, many of whom became his friends.
Jim worked hard and played hard. Jim had many interests and lived life to the fullest. He enjoyed cooking for his family and friends. He loved Frank Sinatra, especially singing “That’s Life,” smoking cigars, boating, chilling and grilling by the pool. He also enjoyed his cucumber martinis, Jimmy Buffett, casinos, traveling, fine dining, his cars and the Philadelphia Eagles. He always loved his Florida “happy home” surrounded by those he loved.
To know Jim was to love Jim. He was generous with everyone and unique in so many ways. He was the “Captain” during his boating days, which was fitting for the way he lived his life too.
Jim was a member of St. Elizabeth Catholic Church. His faith was important to him, as was evident in raising his 4 children who walk strongly in faith, a very precious gift.
Once vibrant, a life well lived, a life well loved. He is deeply loved and will be deeply missed.
