James Sentman Obituary

James Mitchell "Mitch" Sentman, 66 years old of West Chester, PA passed away Thursday April 11, 2024 at home surrounded by his family that was not quite ready to let him go.

Born May 7, 1957 in Wynnewood, PA he was the son of the late Warren Sentman and the late Barbara Jones.

Mitch grew up in Springfield, PA the middle child of 3 and a bit of a wild child. His father once spent a lot of time and money to fence in the yard so Mitch and his dog would stop escaping. In typical Mitch fashion he taught their dog to climb the fence so they could continue to escape together. God bless his older sister, Sandy who spent a lot of time trying to keep him out of trouble while his little brother, Will was the recipient of his older brother’s pranks and torture. Story has it that Will may have been tied to a metal clothesline pole in a thunder & lightning storm more than once.

Mitch’s work ethic was second to none. He spent many years as a very talented heavy equipment mechanic and then a high voltage lineman. This all led him to the career he poured his heart and soul into and was most proud of, the V.P. of Road Dog Trucks LLC. This is where he helped build a brand and provide a one of kind truck buying experience that was “Approved by Mitch”.

Mitch was a massive presence with a cowboy like swagger. Not much of a bedside manner with a love for all four-letter words. He somehow managed to be a man’s man and a ladies’ man all at the same time. He either liked you or didn’t and you were clear where you stood.

He was an endless flirt that was not afraid of commitment, albeit not always that great at it. When he loved it was wholeheartedly and without limits. When he spoke it was at a volume that could raise your blood pressure quickly. He said what he thought without hesitation and an apology was sometimes hard to find. Most envied his confidence and his ability to captivate a room. He also had a gift in which he could convince you of nearly anything. He once convinced his mother that a bong she found was a science project that he needed for a final grade. By the end of their conversation, she had apologized for thinking the worst.

Mitch was a firm believer of the school of hard knocks and tough love. Raised his girls with just enough dysfunction & love to turn into good and slightly comical adults that made him very proud.

Mitch enjoyed deep sea fishing, camel non-filtered cigarettes, a daily glass of scotch or two, working in his garage, riding and building custom motorcycles and collecting knives and swords in almost a borderline hoarding type fashion.

Mitch is survived by his partner Nela Gutierrez- McGrath. Daughters, Nicole Chiccino (Pete #1), Danielle Sentman (Chip), Jaclyn Sentman & Dominique McGrath (Mitch). His grandchildren Ava McEwen and Grayson McWilliams. Along with his sister, Sandra Barber-Walters (Bruce) & his brother, William Sentman (Sarah) and his niece and nephews and best friend Ray Quay. We cannot forget to mention his beloved chow chows, Flame & Zeus. Those who know Mitch well can vouch that most days he loved all of his dogs more than any of us.

His laugh, his yelling, his massive hugs, his sometimes-tasteless jokes, and overhearing his road rage while on the phone with him will all be eternally missed. He leaves a space on this earth that can never be replaced.

Love you until we meet again!
