Obituary

Ivy Sandra Siegfried Jost, the loving daughter of Charles and Gladys Siegfried, passed away on the morning of June 27th, 2026, after overcoming a four-year battle with cancer.

She is survived by her high school sweetheart and beloved husband of 68 years, Donald E Jost, and their three children, Donna Tolson (Timothy Tolson) of Crozet, VA, Steven Jost (Joyce Jost) of West Grove, PA, and Thomas Jost (Patricia Boustany) of Staten Island, NY, as well as six grandchildren (Ben Tolson, Zachary Tolson, Kayla Thompson, Donovan Jost, Griffin Boustany and Noura Costany) and six great grandchildren. She was predeceased by her sister, Virginia (Gini) and brother, Bruce, and leaves behind beloved nieces, a nephew, cousins, and many, many friends. Her family and friends brought her unending joy.

Ivy graduated from Upper Darby High School and attended the University of Delaware, Delaware County Community College, and Neumann University, where she received her bachelor’s degree.

She was a devoted wife and mother who loved children. She was often the “home room mother” for her children’s classes and den mother for Cub Scouts. When her children were older, she became a preschool teacher and daycare administrator. She volunteered for many organizations, churches, and schools in the communities in which she lived, most recently for the Kennett Library Adult Literacy Program. She was an active member of Reformation Lutheran Church in Media, PA, and Westminster Presbyterian Church in West Chester, PA, where she was a deacon. She had a great love of music and sang in choruses and choirs throughout her life. Ivy, along with her husband, enjoyed traveling both in the USA and abroad and often with friends. For many years they sailed on the Chesapeake in their boat, the Gypsy. Ivy loved the beach and for much of her life found time every year to go to the Jersey shore with family and friends, building lifelong memories. Her hobbies included singing, gardening, reading, cooking, bridge, poetry writing and bird watching.  She loved hosting friends and family, and their home was always a welcoming place for relatives, friends and neighbors whom she adored.

A Celebration of Life service will be held on Friday, July 10, at the Westminster Presbyterian Church, 10 West Pleasant Grove Road, West Chester, PA; visitation at 10 am and service at 11 am.  A luncheon will follow the service at the church.

In lieu of flowers, Ivy has requested that donations be sent to the Kennett Library Adult Literacy Program or the Abramson Cancer Center.
