Henry J. Kolch, 94, of West Chester, formerly of Ellwood
City and Ambridge, PA, passed away on March 4, 2018 at Brandywine Hall where he
was lovingly cared for by their staff and Neighborhood Hospice. Henry was
preceded in death by his first wife, Freda P. Kolch, and his second wife, Olga
Rosen Kolch with whom he shared 32 years of marriage.
Olga and Henry met on a “blind date” after they were both
widowed and it was love at first sight.
They enjoyed dancing, bowling, playing cards, traveling in their RV and
the company of their family and many friends.
Their years together were very happy.
When Henry married Olga he instantly became a father and grandfather and
carried the banner well. Henry was
blessed with great mechanical skills and he used those skills to build stick
ponies, doll houses, toy boxes, tree houses, tire swings and play rifles that
filled his grandchildren’s lives with great joy. He was the quintessential Grandfather!
Henry was especially proud of his service in the U. S. Army
during World War 2. He served in England preparing vehicles for amphibious
landings and he also served in France and Germany under General Patton.
He will be lovingly remembered by his daughters, Mary Evelyn
McGann and her husband, Stephen, of West Chester and Sandra Alsterberg, of Clinton
Twp., Michigan. Also keeping him in
their memory are his grandchildren, Natalie McGann Abrams and her husband,
David, of Penn Valley; Ian McGann of West Chester; Justin Alsterberg and his
wife, Lori, of New Orleans; nephew Michael Kolch, and wife Cindy, of Beaver
Falls; his niece, Carol Ann Kingston, husband Larry, of Ellwood City and his
nephew, Jerry Ferguson of Crestwood, Il.
He is also survived by his great grandchildren, Carter and Olivia Abrams.
Relatives and friends are invited to his Visitation on Sat.
March 24, 2018 from 9:30 am – 10:00 am at St. Agnes Church, 233 W. Gay St.,
West Chester, PA; followed by his Funeral Mass at 10:00 am.
Interment will be private.
In lieu of
