Helen Stern Obituary

Helen V. Stern, age 99, passed away on Thursday, September 17, 2020 in Kennett Square, PA, surrounded by her family.

Born on April 29, 1921, in Rising Sun, MD, Helen was the daughter of the late William E. Smith and late Violette Pierce Smith.

Helen was the wife of the late Harry E. Stern Sr.

A long-time resident of West Chester, Helen worked at Schramm Inc. and Harowe Servo Controls Inc. in the machine shop until her retirement. Her hobbies included word search puzzles, cheering on the Phillies, and visits with grandchildren and great-grandchildren who lovingly referred to her as “Granny.”

Helen was predeceased by her son, Harry E. Stern, Jr., son-in-law John P. Gula, and siblings Jim Smith, Gladys (Alfred) Smith, and Buddy Smith.

She is survived by her daughters Ruth Ann Dilworth and Nancy Gula. She will be especially missed by her four grandchildren: Keith (Shelley) Dilworth, Jennifer (Michael) Androwick, Suzanne (Ashish) Dodia, and Andrea Gula, and eight great-grandchildren: Michael (Nicole) Androwick, Jr., Morgan Androwick, Alex Dilworth, Megan Dilworth, Adam Dodia, Maximus Dodia, Jake Dodia, and Reese Dodia.

Services and interment will be private.
