Harriett Louise Heppard, 77 of West Chester, PA passed away Sunday May 3, 2026, at Chester County Hospital in West Chester.
Born January 13, 1949, in Philadelphia, PA she was the daughter of the late William Henry Heppard and the late Harriett Louise Price Heppard.
Harriett grew up in Philadelphia and graduated from John Bartram High School, where she was selected to participate in the student co-op program at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania.
She served as an Administrative Assistant for twenty-four years in the Workshop at Overbrook School for the Blind, where she supported staff and students and formed lifelong friendships.
Harriett was a member of Westminster Presbyterian Church, where she enjoyed volunteering at the Thrift Shop. She was also a member of the West Chester Area Community Chorus, where she sang for many years.
Harriett was very creative and enjoyed knitting and sewing. She also enjoyed gardening, reading, and spending time with her family and friends.
Harriett is survived by her children, Amy Louise Hannigan and John Hofstaedter (Jennifer Wang); and grandchildren, Adam, Asher, and Abigail, whom she adored.
She was preceded in death by her brother, Henry Heppard and son-in-law, James T. Hannigan, Jr.
Relatives and friends are invited to her Memorial Service Tuesday, May 19, 2026 at 10:00 am Westminster Presbyterian Church 10 W. Pleasant Grove Road West Chester PA 19382-
Interment will be private.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the American Heart Association and Westminster Presbyterian Church Memorial Fund.
