Harold von Brockdorff

Harold von Brockdorff, 85 of West Chester, PA passed away Thursday, October 26, 2023 at the Sunrise Assisted Living of Westtown.

He was the husband of Lillian Marie Koenig von Brockdorff whom he was married to for 49 years.

Born October 3,1938 in Hamburg, Germany, he was the son of the late Arnold von Brockdorff and the late Helen Hesse von Brockdorff.

Harold grew up in Stamford, NY and graduated from Hamilton College.  He then spent some time in the Navy as a pilot.  After that, he decided to pursue his passion for law and graduated from Albany Law School in 1969.  Before settling down Harold went back to Germany and traveled throughout the country on his BMW motorcycle.  When he returned, he went to work for West Publishing (now Thompson Reuters) as a Legal Editor where he stayed for 40 years.

In his free time, he loved to read, watch the History Channel and spend time outside.  He especially enjoyed riding his bike, which was his mode to work for many years.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by son, Eric (Michelle) von Brockdorff, son, Harold (Anne) von Brockdorff, grandchildren, Cai, Cole and Harold, and brother, Eric von Brockdorff. 

Relatives and friends are invited to his Visitation on Sunday, October 29, 2023 from 11:00 am - 12:00 pm at DellaVecchia, Reilly, Smith & Boyd Funeral Home, Inc. 410 North Church Street West Chester, PA 19380. 

Interment will be private.
