Harold Richard Court

Harold Richard Court, 95, of West Chester, PA, passed away on Sunday, January 26, 2025, at the Chester County Hospital.

Harold was the beloved husband of Patricia Brosius Court. They were married for seventy-four  years. Born in Unionville on May 16, 1929 to John E. Court and Anna Bonsall Court, he was the second youngest of eight children: John Jr. (Buddy), Clifford Brinton (Skip/Babe), Herbert Charles (Charlie), Edith Court Ryan (Sissy), Marie Court Lane, Helen Court Rimel, and Betty Court Haley (Becky), all deceased.

A proud alumnus of West Chester Area Junior/Senior High School, Harold was inducted into the United States Army, where he served honorably from 1951 to 1953.

Professionally, Harold began his career as a Building Foreman for his father in the construction of greenhouses. He subsequently established his own legacy as a home builder for the next thirty-five years. Among the many homes he built, including his beloved 310 Highland Road residence, his crowning achievement was the development of Courtfield Springs, now known as Wencin Way, comprising thirty-two custom homes.

Harold also devoted his time to public service, being elected as East Bradford Township Supervisor for twelve years and serving on numerous boards, including planning and zoning commissions.

Affectionately known as Uncle Sonny and Uncle Court, Harold was an avid deer hunter and fisherman. He was a kind, generous, and good-hearted man, a wonderful father who greatly assisted many family members and friends throughout his life.

Harold is survived by his wife, Patricia, and his daughters Wendy Court Fry and Cindy Court Paterson, his granddaughters Samantha Roberts (Ryan), Courtney, and Stephanie Paterson, and his great-granddaughters Julianna and Alexandra Roberts. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews and their families. He was preceded in death by his grandchildren Elizabeth Ann Christy and Daniel Timothy Fry.

Relatives and friends are invited to his visitation on Saturday, February 22, at 9:00 am, followed by his Funeral Service at 10:00 am at Dellavecchia Funeral Home, 410 N. Church Street, West Chester, PA 19380. Interment will follow at Oaklands Cemetery on Rte. 100 in West Chester, PA.
