Gloria Mattia

Gloria J. Mattia, 84 of West Chester, PA passed away Monday April 4, 2022 at home in West Chester.

She was the wife of the late Donald N. Mattia, Sr.

Born December 7, 1937 in West Chester, PA she was the daughter of the late Harold Taylor and the late Lucy Spaziani Taylor and was one of seven children.

Gloria grew up in West Chester, PA and graduated from West Chester High School. She participated in many sports including: Tennis, Field Hockey, Basketball and Cheerleading. Gloria completed the Nursing Program at Chester County Hospital where she received a degree in Nursing.

She worked as an Operating Room Nurse for 42 years at Chester County Hospital and was much loved by her co-workers.

Gloria was a member of St. Agnes Catholic Church.

Gloria enjoyed going to the beach, traveling, reading, knitting, cross stitch and Bingo. She also enjoyed watching Eagles football, Phillies baseball and Villanova basketball.

Gloria is survived by her brothers, Harold, James and Fred Taylor as well as her sons, Donald N. Mattia, Jr, (Stacey), Jeff Mattia (Colleen) and Greg Mattia (Kristen) as well as her grandchildren: Genesia, Dominic, Torie, Nicholas, Anthony, Ryan and Lauren. 

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, brothers: John (Jackie) Taylor, Alfred (Sonny) Taylor and her sister Marlene Taylor Torrance.

Relatives and friends are invited to her visitation on Monday, April 11, 2022 from 9:00 am - 10:45 am at St. Agnes Church 233 W. Gay St. West Chester, PA 19380, followed by her Funeral Mass at 11:00 am.

Interment will be in St. Agnes Cemetery West Chester PA.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Chester County Hospital Foundation 701 E. Marshall St, West Chester PA 19380.
