Geraldine W. “Geri” Porter, age 84, of West Chester, Pennsylvania, passed away peacefully on Sunday, September 20, 2026, at Wellington at Hershey’s Mill.
Born on February 21, 1942, Geri was the daughter of the late Henry Webster and the late Viola Schafer Webster. A native of Brooklyn, New York, she grew up in the Richmond Hill section of Queens.
After graduating high school, she attended Claremont Secretarial School and later Susquehanna University, where she met her husband, the late Gerald H. Porter.
Geri was a longtime member of West Chester United Methodist Church and spent her career as a legal secretary and paralegal for The Honorable Judge Thomas Gavin. She was also active in the Chester County Day Women’s Auxiliary Club at Chester County Hospital, where she furnished and refurbished dollhouses for the annual holiday market raffles. Her love of miniatures extended into her membership in a local miniature club, where she learned to create intricate projects for her own collections and dollhouses.
A gifted and creative person, Geri sewed, gardened, crafted ceramic holiday decorations, and built beautiful dollhouses for her granddaughters. She was skilled in embroidery and created Christmas ornaments, dollhouse furnishings, and many framed pieces that decorated her home and were given as cherished gifts. Her gardens were a highlight for anyone visiting the family in West Chester—an ability she inherited from her father, Henry Webster.
Geri was known for her positive spirit and warm smile. She rarely complained, believed deeply that life was too short for negativity, and lived by that philosophy every day.
Geri is survived by her daughter, Deborah, wife of Mark Slick; her son, Andrew Porter, husband of Julie; and her son, Peter Porter. She is also survived by her grandchildren: Dara Slick, wife of Ricky Molner; Kara Slick, wife of Cole Midwood; Tom Porter, husband of Bailee; Steven Porter, husband of Christie; Courtney Porter, wife of John Washburn; and Jake Porter, husband of Megan. She leaves behind five great‑grandchildren: Emmett, Rylee, Nolan, Micah, and Paige.
She was preceded in death by her sisters, Marie Wade and Barbara Davis.
Services and interment will be privately held at Oaklands Cemetery in West Chester, Pennsylvania.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the Chester County Hospital.
Arrangements are entrusted to DellaVecchia, Reilly, Smith & Boyd Funeral Home, Inc. of West Chester.
