Gerald "Jerry" Nicholas Carozza, Sr.

December 8, 1934 ~ November 16, 2024 (age 89) 89 Years Old

Obituary

Gerald Nicholas Carozza Sr., 89 of West Chester, PA passed away Saturday November 16, 2024, at Chester County Hospital surrounded by family. He is survived by Juana Luchessi Carozza, his wife of 65 years. Jerry was a member of St. Agnes Church West Chester, PA.

Born December 8, 1934, in Bronx, NY he was the son of the late Nicholas A. Carozza and the late Vincenza Scauzillo Carozza. Gerald, known as Jerry, grew up in Bronx, NY and graduated from Dewitt Clinton High School before earning his Associate’s Degree from the City College of New York.

He served in the United States Naval Reserve in the late 1950s that included a tour of active sea duty in the Antarctic on an icebreaker in support of Operation Deep Freeze.  

He was a retired Industrial Lighting Sales Engineer for Holophane and Johns Manville in the 1960s and 70s and became an export agent for industrial lighting products in Venezuela and Colombia during the early 1980s. Jerry then converted his love for cinema into the founding of Your Choice Video, operating two retail locations in Delaware and Chester Counties during the late 1980's and early 90's.  He also worked part time jobs in retirement right up to his death. 

Jerry enjoyed his pet cats and dog, collecting coins, listening to opera on the radio every Saturday, watching classic movies and tending his summer vegetable garden.  

In addition to his wife, he is survived by his son, Gerald (Alejandra) Carozza, Jr., son John (Lisa) Carozza, son Peter (Beth Ann) Carozza,  and daughter, Elisa Carozza; grandchildren, Jacqueline, Peter John and Julia; step grandchildren, Audrey and Isabella; grandchildren John Jr., Zachary, Max, Joseph, and Ann, great grandchildren Francisco, Tripp, Walden and Lili, his brothers Anthony (Barbara) Carozza, Nicholas (Anne) Carozza and Joseph Carozza. He was preceded in death by brother Salvatore (Yolanda) Carozza. 

Relatives and friends are invited to his visitation on Saturday, December 14, 2024, from 11:00 am - 12:15 pm at DellaVecchia, Reilly, Smith & Boyd Funeral Home, Inc. 410 North Church Street West Chester, PA 19380, followed by his Funeral Mass at 1:00 pm St. Agnes Church 233 W. Gay St. West Chester PA 19380.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in his name to Brandywine Valley SPCA in West Chester, PA.
