Obituary

George P. Warren, Jr, age 95, died peacefully on October 18, 2024 at Chester County Hospital.

Born on July 12, 1929, George grew up in Swarthmore, PA, graduating in Swarthmore High School’s class of 1947. He received his degree from The University of Pennsylvania’s Wharton School of Business, and was a Certified Public Accountant. He worked in public accounting for Lybrand, Ross Brothers and Montgomery, was the financial manager for the Atwater Kent Manufacturing Company, and was an Adjunct Professor of Accounting at the University of Delaware. In 1976, George founded and for many years was CEO of Organization Services, Inc., a corporate services provider in Wilmington, DE. Throughout the entirety of his career, he also maintained an extensive private tax practice.

George served honorably in the US Army Reserves, attaining the rank of Master Sergeant.

George was civic-minded, and applied his skills through service to the Chester County Health & Welfare Council, the West Goshen Sewer Authority, Explorer Post 99 in Wilmington, and Community Volunteers in Medicine in West Chester.

George was a faithful member of Westminster Presbyterian Church in West Chester, where he served as an elder, a trustee, and a valued leader on special financial projects.

Music was always a part of George’s life. He sang in his High School Men’s Quartet, with the Forty-Niners Community Chorus in West Chester, and with the choir at Westminster Presbyterian Church for many decades. And he never met a puzzle he wouldn’t persist in solving.

We are grateful for his place in our lives, for his sense of duty and sense of humor, for his strong work ethic, persistent drive, and playful spirit.

George is survived by his wife of 69 years, Jane “Trudy”; his daughters Jenny (Mark), Becky (Gil) and Sarah (Rob); their children Peter (Grace), Kyle (Gemma) and Danielle (Alaina); and step grandchildren Kirsten, Andrew, Margit, Mia and their families.

Relatives and friends are invited to his visitation on Friday, November 8, 2024 from 10:30 am - 11:00 am at Westminster Presbyterian Church 10 W. Pleasant Grove Road West Chester, PA 19382 followed by his Funeral Service at 11:00 am with a reception following the service.
