Georgann Cullen Obituary

Professor Georgann Cullen served as a faculty member at West Chester University (WCU) from 1964-1998.

She began her career when West Chester was a State Teachers College in the then Department of Science and was one of the original faculty in the Department of Biology. In her tenure at WCU, she was instrumental in recruiting high quality students to the department in her role as Assistant Chairperson, which she held for more than 20 years. She taught courses in Zoology, Embryology, Animal Development and Microtechnique and routinely provided financially supported research experiences for students. In recognition of her excellence in teaching and service she was awarded the title of faculty Emeritus upon her retirement by the University and has been named one of the 150 Most Influential Women of West Chester University.

After retiring, she fervently continued her work on human brain development and on finalizing an e-book on the original research of Dr. Charlotte Weaver (who was a pioneer in Cranial Osteopathic Medicine). Prof. Cullen was also the founder and president of the non-profit Dr. Charlotte Weaver Foundation. The primary goals of the Foundation are to preserve and advance the work of Dr. Charlotte Weaver through curation and publication of her research and awarding scholarship funds to deserving students.
