In Loving Memory of Gary P. Toedter.

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Gary Paul Toedter at the age of 71. Born in Burbank, California, Gary dedicated his life to advancing medical science and improving patient care. After earning his Bachelors and Master’s degree in Biology, his passion for research led him to pursue a PhD in Comparative Pathology, cementing his expertise in the pharmaceutical field.

Throughout his illustrious career, Gary played a pivotal role in developing innovative techniques for detection, treatment, therapies, and clinical trials for diseases including HIV, Crohn’s, and Ulcerative Colitis. Some of his scientific papers continue to be cited as a foundational reference when people talk about therapeutic response in Ulcerative Colitis. He holds four US Patents in his field. His dedication to excellence and his unwavering commitment to improving healthcare were truly inspiring and have impacted countless lives.

Beyond his professional achievements, Gary was known for his kindness, generosity, unique sense of humor, quiet intelligence, love of the outdoors and outdoor activities, and the deep love he had for his family, pets, and friends. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

Gary is survived by his wife of 43 years, Donna, his sons, Eric and Jason, and their wives, Amy and Selina, three grandchildren, Ayla, Juniper, and Levi, his brother, Allen, and sisters, Freya and Ellen.  He had yet to meet his fourth grandchild who is due in May.

An informal celebration of Gary’s life will be held at a time and location yet to be determined. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Brandywine Valley SPCA 1212 Phoenixville Pike West Chester, PA 19380.
