Frank DiMarzio, Jr. Obituary

Frank J.  DiMarzio Jr., 73 of Elverson, PA died Sunday May 28, 2023 at his home after a 33 year battle with Multiple Sclerosis.

Born July 12, 1949 in West Chester, PA he was the son of the late Frank J. DiMarzio and the late Mary H. Ciorrocco DiMarzio.

Frank grew up a devout Catholic in West Chester and graduated from Henderson High School.

Attending Thaddeus Stevens Trade School to become a journeyman machinist, Frank graduated and completed his apprenticeship at McGuckin & Pyle manufacturing printing presses. Later,  working in the same field at Dopaco, he received 2 U.S. patents for fast food container tooling, which he commonly boasted being paid $1 each.

Frank's most passionate hobby was The Boy Scouts of America and was proud to pass along his love of scouting to his sons, Chuck and Ken. He joined Octoraro Lodge #22, Order of the Arrow in 1964. Receiving the vigil honor in 2001 and given his Lenni name Gihim, meaning “one who encourages”. Not allowing his diagnosis of MS to hinder his commitment to the scouts, Frank attended countless events to guide, teach and encourage others whenever he could. In 2018 he was honored with the Wipunquoak Award. This award recognizes only those extraordinary Arrowman who have deeply influenced and significantly contributed to the vision, direction, and growth of Octoraro Lodge faithfully demonstrated a lifetime of servant leadership, and, through their daily example, illuminated and reinforced the significance of the values found in the Scout Oath and Scout Law.

Most recently he volunteered his time in the line shaft machine works building at Rough and Tumble Engineers Museum. He enjoyed getting together with his old buddies and talking shop every month. Sharing his passion for the trade on the days the museum was open to the public, he could always be found with a smile on his face and telling a story to anyone who would lend an ear.

His early hobbies included skiing, racing motocross, building suspensions for race cars, and camping. Later enjoying visits to Longwood gardens, tinkering, conversing with anyone, sharing stories about his children and grandchildren, watching and discussing the Phillies with his late mother, Mary.

He is survived by his children, Charles (Tasha) DiMarzio, Kenneth DiMarzio and Jessica (Erik) Weyer; grandchildren, Adalee and Bryer DiMarzio; siblings, Richard DiMarzio, Dewey DiMarzio (Leslie) and Nina (Thomas) Ansel.
