I only met Fern once. If she was anything like her daughter, Joelle, I am sorry I did not have the opportunity to know her, she must have been quite a LADY!

My deepest condolences Joelle on the loss of your mom.  I met Fern when I was a visitor at Ryerss and she enjoyed talking to me about the horses.  She was always nice to me and willing to share her knowledge.

Joelle, my deepest condolences on the passing of your mother.  I had the opportunity to work with Fern at A. Duie Pyle for 10 years.  I found her to be down to earth and straight forward and her wonderful sense of humor.  I also admired her strength. She will be sadly missed.  Maria Hall

Fern McBride - one of a kind. Straight forward and called it as she saw it.  A single Mom who always had time for her daughter in spite of working full time. Her love of all creatures has been passed on to her daughter - it all probably started when Joelle was young and Fern took her to the zoo with neighbors and friends. They were a familiar & formidable duo at Ryerss Farm, knowledgable and caring and putting in many hours. Together they volunteered for the herd day or night, and Fern certainly was the mentor for so many - in the gift shop and the barn. I am grateful to have known Fern. I will miss her wit - although I think I can count on Joelle to carry the baton. God Bless.
