Obituary

Faye Ann Whiteman, a beacon of kindness and generosity, passed away peacefully on December 1, 2025, at the age of 91 in West Chester. Born on July 2, 1934, in the quaint township of Honey Brook, she was the cherished daughter of the late James Stauffer and Miriam Stauffer Samples. Faye's life was one of unwavering love and dedication to her family and friends, a commitment that was evident in every aspect of her being.

The heart of Faye's world was her family. She was a devoted wife to her late husband, George Whiteman, with whom she shared a loving marriage of 55 years. Together, they navigated life's trials and triumphs with grace and mutual support. Faye's legacy continues through her sons, Brian Whiteman (Alison) of Parkesburg and Kevin Whiteman (Marsha) of West Chester. She took immense pride in her role as a grandmother to Meghan, Haley, Jennifer, and Vicky, who learned by example her kind spirit and loving heart. Faye also leaves behind her brother, James (Bud) Stauffer, many beloved nieces and nephews and is preceded in death by her sisters, Pauline (Polly) Pyle and Betty (Beck) Leisey, whom she loved dearly.

Faye was a graduate of Downingtown High School, where she laid the foundations of a life filled with learning and service. Her close classmates formed a group named the Tea & Crumpet group and they remained lifelong friends sharing a vacation home in their retirement years.  She worked for Denney Reyburn early in her career and went on to retire from the Chester County Hospital, where she worked diligently as an administrative assistant. Her meticulous attention to detail and warm demeanor left a lasting impact on her colleagues and the many lives she touched through her work. Upon retirement she was awarded a plaque for her service to the hospital and had a wing dedicated in her honor.

Faye was involved in many organizations throughout her life including the Ladies New Century club, Widows club, Meals on Wheels and the Peace Circle. She also served as a Deacon at First Presbyterian Church for many years. Her faith was tremendously important to her and guided her through her life.

Faye's life was a testament to the virtues of kindness, generosity, and love—words that not only describe her but also encapsulate the way she approached every day. Her generous nature was a comfort to those in need, and her ability to listen and offer wise counsel made her a cherished confidant to so many. Her gentle smile and soft-spoken words will be profoundly missed by her friends, family, and all who had the pleasure of knowing her.

As we say goodbye to Faye Whiteman, we celebrate a life beautifully lived and a journey completed with grace. Her spirit will continue to guide and inspire those who were fortunate enough to have been a part of her life. Faye's memory will be forever treasured, a reminder of the profound impact one person can have on the hearts of many. She has left this world richer for her presence and will be deeply missed by all.
