Obituary

Ernest A. DiMarzio, 90 years old, formerly of West Chester, Pa., died peacefully at his home in New York City on Sunday, January 4, 2026, where he had lived since 1975. He had been married to Jinrong Dong for 22 years. Together, they enjoyed attending Broadway shows, dining out and travelling, and both loved living in New York City.

Ernest was preceded in death by his father, Cesare "Ches" DiMarzio, his mother Filomena Longhi DiMarzio, his brother, David DiMarzio (Jackie), his sister, Gloria Jean DiMarzio and son, Eric DiMarzio. Mr. DiMarzio is survived by his daughter, Dina (Ken), son, Michael W. DiMarzio, grandchildren Michael (Danielle) and Erica, and great grandchildren, Mena, Derek, Sabella, Bradley and Andrew and niece Diana, and numerous other cousins and relatives.

Ernest graduated high school in West Chester in 1953. He then enrolled at Villanova University where he graduated in 1957. He was a Wildcat fan all his life; regularly attending The Big East Tournament in Madison Square Garden. From March 22,1957 to March 8,1959, Ernest served in The United States Army.

In New York City, Ernest worked as an accountant for Hertling Industries, a haberdashery located in the Garment District, for over 20 years. During these years, Ernest also worked part time for Macy's at their Herald Square location.

Ernest was an avid runner and completed several marathons. He ran/jogged well into his eighties. He was also, despite living in New York City, a dedicated and loyal Phillies and Eagles fan. Richie Ashburn, the longtime centerfielder for the Phillies - and a recent inductee into the Baseball Hall of Fame - was his favorite player.

Relatives and friends are invited to his Graveside Service at 1:00 pm on Wednesday, January 14, 2026 at St. Agnes Cemetery located at 1050 Pottstown Pike, West Chester, Pa. 19380.
