Elmer DiSanti Obituary

Elmer P. DiSanti of West Chester, died peacefully in his home surrounded by his children on February 17, 2018 at the age of 87.

Born and raised on Wayne St. in West Chester, he was the son of the late Giaconda and Pietro DiSanti and husband of the late Rose Natalie DiSanti.
Elmer was a lifetime member of St. Agnes Church.

He graduated from West Chester High School in 1948 and was in the Navy aboard the USS Benner which traveled throughout Europe from 1951 to 1954. While serving his country, Elmer regularly sent love letters to Rose. Upon his return, they were married on February 12, 1955 and together for 61 years before Rose passed; they raised their seven children in West Chester and became the “all-star” Pop-Pop and Mom-Mom.

Elmer was well-known as a very handy hard-working man, completely committed to his family, neighbors and friends, and would accomplish anything he set his mind to. In addition to working with his brother for the postal service as mail carrier for 35 years, the two were also painting partners.

He was an East Side Little League coach for 10 years, and a sports enthusiast his entire life. He was happy to have seen the Phillies clinch two World Series Championships, Flyers win two back to back Stanley Cups and in his final weeks, the Eagles gave him a heroic Super Bowl victory. A forever active man, Elmer loved bowling, golfing, baseball, and gardening, along with painting and woodworking. He could fix anything that broke and make anything you could describe. His priority was spending as much time with his children and grandchildren as he possibly could. Pop-Pop was always at all his grandchildren’s school, music, and sporting events.

Elmer is survived by his seven beloved children, Therese O'Connor (husband Terry) Tony DiSanti (wife Kim), Pete DiSanti, Mike DiSanti (wife Lorie), Fran DiSanti (wife Pati), Joe DiSanti, and Maria McCool (husband Nick), and a dear brother to Frank and Edith DiSanti. He has nine grandchildren who adore him and enjoyed his weekly Monday night dinners all together at his home.

In addition to his parents and wife, he is preceded in death by his sisters Carmela Massimini and Mary Ferrier.

Relatives and friends are invited to his Visitation from 8:00-10:00am on Friday, February 23, 2018 at St. Agnes Church, 233 W. Gay St. West Chester, PA 19380; followed by his Funeral Mass at 10:00am.
