Ellen F. Tyson (née MacBride) of West Chester, PA, passed away on Friday, October 24, 2025 after a brief illness. Born December 5, 1935 in Philadelphia, PA, she was the daughter of Thomas and Ada (Ault) MacBride.
Ellen was a woman of deep faith who dedicated her life to service, family and community. She attended the Philadelphia College of the Bible and began her career with the Philadelphia Presbytery. In 1969, she married Reverend Earl Tyson, embarking on a life of shared ministry. Together, they served congregations in Florida until 1998, spending the final 15 years of their ministry at Grace Covenant Presbyterian Church in Orlando.
Returning to Pennsylvania in 1998, she became an active and beloved member of the First Presbyterian Church of West Chester, contributing her time, energy and wisdom to the church community.
Ellen is survived by her brother Earl T. MacBride (Velma), her nieces and nephews Glenn MacBride (Jeri), Lynn Caroll (Bob), Dawn McVey Leithead (Fran) and a large extended family of great and great-great nieces and nephews who brought her much joy.
Ellen will be remembered for her unwavering faith, kindness and dedication to her family and church. She leaves behind a legacy of love, devotion and service that will be cherished by all who knew her.
Relatives and friends are invited to her visitation on Monday November 3, 3035 from 10-10:45 am at the First Presbyterian Church 130 West Miner Street West Chester, followed by her Funeral Service at 11am. Interment will be private at Arlington Cemetery, Drexel Hill, PA
