Elizabeth "Betty" M. Tinder

Elizabeth (Betty)  M. Tinder, 77 of West Chester, PA passed away Saturday August 20, 2022 at her home.

She was the wife of the late Gerald Joseph Tinder.

Born October 12, 1944 in Philadelphia, PA she was the daughter of the late Robert L. Johnston and the late Mildred B. Barnhurst Johnston. 

Elizabeth grew up in East Falls and later moved to Exton, PA where she graduated from Bishop Shanahan. 

She worked in the family business The Cold Nose and then The Barker’s Barber, where she became a beloved staple to all the regular customers.  

She enjoyed planting her flowers, going to the movies and boating and fishing with her late husband.   She loved going to Longwood Gardens many times throughout the year to see their flowers and shows.   Her favorite thing was to spend time with her family and friends and was always ready to do anything fun.  

Elizabeth is survived by her children,  Gerald J. Tinder, II, Deneen MacFadden (Jim),  Brenda Tinder (Don Spence) and Karen Tinder; grandchildren, Amelia and Hannah Tinder, Christopher, Charles and Molly Spence: great grandchildren Connor, Tyler and Makenzie Ray, Harlow, James and Tommie MacFadden. Siblings Winnie Fessenbecker, Janice Johnston, Doris Johnston, Evelyn Hassler, David Johnston (Sandy), K.C. Johnston (Lori) and Tim Johnston. And many nieces and nephews. 

She was preceded in death by her brother James Johnston and sister Roberta Wills. 

Relatives and friends are invited to her visitation on Sunday, October 9, 2022 from 10:00 am - 10:45 am at DellaVecchia, Reilly, Smith & Boyd Funeral Home, Inc. 410 North Church Street West Chester, PA 19380 followed by her Funeral Service at 11:00 am. Interment will be private.
