Eileen D. Showers

Eileen D. Showers, 79, formerly of Dillsburg, PA, passed away peacefully on Monday, September 26, 2022. She was the wife of the late Russell T. Showers.

Born February 6, 1943 in Punxsutawney, PA, Eileen was the daughter of the late Stanley Skarbek and the late Helen Meko Skarbek.

Eileen grew up in Reynoldsville, PA and graduated from Reynoldsville High School and Indiana University of Pennsylvania.

A voracious reader and believer in education, she most recently worked at the Pennsylvania State System of Higher Education Foundation, where she managed the scholarship program for the 14 state-owned universities. Eileen previously worked with the PA Bar Association, the PA Department of Conservation and Natural Resources, PennDOT, Governor Dick Thornburgh’s scheduling office, and was also an English teacher in the Camp Hill School District and others. She was a longtime parishioner of St. Elizabeth Ann Seton in Mechanicsburg, PA.

Her loves of sunshine, pizza, wine, and conversation were only surpassed by her love for her family and friends. Her generosity, kindness, and values made lasting impacts on everyone she met.

Eileen is survived by her sons, Christopher Showers of Downingtown, PA, Daniel Showers of Chadds Ford, PA, brother, Thomas Skarbek of Woodstock, GA, and her grandchildren Alexander, Andrew, Ava, Jacob, Jack, and Nathan. She will be remembered forever and missed always.

A memorial service will be held at a later date.
