Edward Kronenberg III Obituary

Edward Stuart Kronenberg III was called home to the arms of the Lord on Sunday, February 25, 2024, only 11 weeks after the death of his beloved wife of 65 years, Dianne Kronenberg.

Edward was predeceased by his parents, Dr. Edward S. Kronenberg Jr and Crystal Eves Kronenberg of Carlisle PA, and his sister Eves Kronenberg Nace.

He is survived by his brother, William Kronenberg and by his sister Ann Kronenberg Sawyer.

Edward was born at the Bryn Mawr Hospital on May 5, 1938. He graduated from Carlisle High School in 1956, where he was a triple varsity athlete in football, basketball, and golf. He attended Lafayette College, where he graduated in 1960 with a BS in Chemical Engineering and a Commission as a 2nd Lieutenant in the U.S. Army Reserves. He served on active duty at the U.S. Army Ordnance Guided Missile School at Redstone Arsenal in Huntsville, Alabama.

In 1959, he married his high school sweetheart, Dianne, and they treasured 65 years of a beautiful marriage. They had two daughters, Kim Russell of West Chester, PA (Thomas Russell) and Crystal Fields of York, South Carolina (James Fields) and three grandchildren, Madeline Russell, Jeni Fields, and Derek Fields.

In January of 1964, Edward joined Armstrong World Industries as a process engineer in the Lancaster Floor Plant. He had assignments in Lancaster PA, Marietta PA, Charlotte NC, and Fulton NY over the next 32 years and retired from Armstrong in 1995. In retirement, Edward and Dianne moved to Seabrook Island, SC, where they enjoyed playing golf and tennis. He was delighted to have had 2 holes-in-one during match play at the Golf Club at Seabrook. He remained active, working as a Ranger and as a Starter at the Osprey Point Golf Club on Kiawah Island. He served on the Architect Review Board, as Verger of the Episcopal Church of Our Savior, and as the Greens Committee Chairman for the Seabrook Golf Association. There were rousing games of Bridge with a wide variety of groups and clubs. Their Christmas Caroling parties were legendary. Their lives were filled with joyful times. In 2005, Edward and Dianne moved to West Chester, PA to be near family. There, they joined St. Francis-in-the-Fields Episcopal Church in Malvern, which was to become their church home for the rest of their lives.
