Doris Gibbs Spriggs, 93, of West Chester, PA, passed away peacefully on Saturday, May 2, 2026. Born in Pottstown, PA, she was the youngest child of the late Richard Edward Gibbs and Bessie Catherine Duckery Gibbs. Because she lost her father early in life, her father’s brother, Noah Gibbs, helped her mother raise her. She was the wife of the late Leon Spriggs, Sr., with whom she shared 62 years of marriage.
She leaves cherished memories to her children: Tawana Reason (Wilson) of Exton, PA; Aprille Beasley (Dennis) of Douglassville, PA; and Malinda Pride (Andrew) of Malvern, PA; Leon Spriggs, II; and Todd Spriggs; nine grandchildren: Nicole Rivera, Shari Reason, Andre Reason, Eric Reason, Bruce Beasley, Anisah Wright, Andrea Tierney, Michael Thomas, Theresa Spriggs; great grandchildren: Arianna Rivera, Brielle Rivera, Marquan Reason-Brown, Raekwaan Reason, Kha’ri Johnson, Kareem Johnson, Kapri Johnson, Nuri Reason-Carter, Marcus Reason, Allayah Reason, Kha’ma Reason, Sy’ire Reason, Alexxander Beasley, Keon Wright, Kai Wright, Kade Wright, and Robert John Tierney; great-great grandchildren: Milan Johnson and Stella Pearl Thomas; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by two grandchildren, Marcus Reason and Jasmine Spriggs; five sisters: Marion Williams; Thelma Jones; Hannah Freeman; Bertha Simms; and Estelle Allen; and two brothers: Herman Gibbs and Brint Gibbs.
A Memorial Service will be held at 12 PM, Friday, May 8, 2026, at DellaVecchia Funeral Home, 410 N. Church Street, West Chester, PA. There will not be a public viewing; however, friends may greet the family beginning at 11:00 AM.
Interment will be in Rolling Green Memorial Park, West Chester, PA.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Alzheimer's Association in Doris' memory.
