Doris L. Schrumpf

Doris L. Schrumpf, age 89, of Glenmoore, PA, passed away peacefully at her home on Tuesday, May 27, 2025.

Born on September 6, 1935, in West Chester, PA, Doris was the daughter of the late Ralph B. Watson Sr. and the late Jennie Brown Watson.

Doris grew up in West Chester and graduated from West Chester Joint Senior High School in 1953, where she earned accolades in cheerleading, field hockey, and basketball. She began her professional life at Bell Telephone before continuing her career at Wyeth Laboratories. After retirement, she dedicated her time to serving as a cafeteria and library aide in local public schools. She was also a devoted member of the Baptist Church of West Chester.

Doris had a deep love for sports, especially football and was a lifelong, enthusiastic Eagles fan (Go Birds!). She found joy in music, dancing, and her favorite soap operas. Known for her vibrant personality, Doris was the life of the party, always coordinating her outfits and jewelry to perfection. Above all, she was a loving and devoted mother and grandmother.

She is survived by her daughter Debbie Stewart (Tom); her grandchildren Tommy Stewart (Kate), Ashley Stewart (Jack), and Jennifer Hollweck (Frank); her great-grandsons Trevor Hollweck and Austin Stewart; her nieces Susan (Don), Diane, and Cathy (Vinny); and many great-nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her brother, Ralph B. Watson Jr., and her sister, Nancy J. Watson.

Relatives and friends are invited to a visitation on Wednesday, June 4, 2025, from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at DellaVecchia, Reilly, Smith & Boyd Funeral Home, Inc. 410 North Church Street, West Chester, PA 19380. Funeral service to follow at 11:00 AM.

Interment will be in Birmingham Lafayette Cemetery, West Chester, PA.

Flowers may be sent to the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society.
