Dianne Marie Bernoth Batcher, 79 years old, passed away on Thursday, May 22, 2025, at her home in West Chester, PA.
Born on August 12, 1945 in Pittsburgh, PA, Dianne was preceded in death by her parents, Norman T. Bernoth and Helen G. (Sonnett) Bernoth.
Dianne is survived by her husband, Joseph Andrew (Bud) Batcher III. They were married for 56 years.
Dianne grew up in Pittsburgh and graduated from the University of Pittsburgh in 1967 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Education. She was an elementary and high school teacher for many years. She also was the owner and manager of a fast food and ice cream parlor in Saxonburg, a town where she served as Vice President of the Business Council.
In Syracuse, NY, she served as a board member and fundraiser for the Elmcrest School for Special Children. A lifelong love of animals led her to volunteer at the Chester County SPCA in West Chester, PA, where she was later hired as the Humane Education Manager. Dianne continued to educate children when she worked for the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation and directed the Chester County Safe Kids program.
Dianne was an exemplary teacher and gave of her whole self, personally and professionally, in every position she ever held.
Dianne was a member of St. Agnes Parish in West Chester, PA. She was also a member of the American Humane Association and of the Association of Professional Humane Educators.
She loved to read, garden, soak up the sun and go to the beach, watch old movies, pay attention to conservative politics, take care of critters, watch Broadway musicals, do statue imitations for photos, and spend time with family and friends. Her spirit was larger than life.
Relatives and friends are invited to her Funeral Mass at 11:00 am on Wednesday, May 28, 2025, at St. Agnes Roman Catholic Church. Inurnment at St. Agnes Cemetery, 1050 Pottstown Pike, West Chester, PA, will take place immediately following Mass.
The family requests donations to the Brandywine Valley SPCA, 1212 Phoenixville Pike, West Chester, PA 19380 instead of flowers.
