Christine Louise Murray

Christine Louise Murray, 74 years old of Exton, PA, passed away on Friday, July 9, 2021 at Chester County Hospital, West Chester, PA.

Born May 2, 1947 in Darby, PA, she was the daughter of the late Lester H. Beaver and the late Katherine Green Beaver, and older sister to her late brother, Keith Beaver.

Christine grew up in East Norriton and graduated in 1965 from A.D. Eisenhower Highschool in Norristown, PA.  She participated in many clubs such as student council, Scribbler Literary Gazette staff, Girls Chorus, Future Teachers of America, Junior Historians and Folklore Society and graduated with her Bachelor’s of Education in Elementary Education from Kutztown University in 1969.  

As a professional educator she touched many lives, teaching over 30 years in elementary and middle schools in the West Chester Area School District. She served as a mentor as a Grade Level Teacher Leader for several years, as WCAEA union elementary Vice President for 5 years, and coached Girls Field Hockey for 6+ years at Peirce Middle School. 

Christine had many interests and hobbies that ranged from gardening, cooking, traveling, dancing, dining and socializing and often went out with her friends and family to events and theatre productions.

She was also a very accomplished needleworker, after growing up and learning from her mother, Katherine. Christine was known for her detailed decorative work and her small business, Curtains by Chris, in her retirement years.

Additionally after her retirement, she learned to downhill ski and became a ski instructor at Big Boulder Ski Area in the Pocono Mountains.  She loved water, and kayaked in a variety of rivers and lakes with friends in her beloved pink kayak, Rosie. The ocean was her favorite respite of all and she spent many days from the spring through to the fall with her friends in her favorite spot of Bethany Bay Resort, Delaware; across White Creek where Junk’s Campground once was where she and her family had camped over 50 years ago.  She could often be seen on the ‘little beach’ soaking up the rays behind her home and playing with her grandchildren or chatting away with her friends at the pool.  

Christine is survived by her children James Murray and Jennifer Savage-Renshall, her grandchildren Angelo, Anna, Evelyn Renshall and Xavier and Zaire LaBoy (and a little brother due in November to James and Danielle!), and her younger sibling, Craig Beaver.

Relatives and friends are invited to her Visitation on Wednesday, July 21, 2021, from 11:00 AM - 12:15 PM at DellaVecchia, Reilly, Smith & Boyd Funeral Home at 410 N. Church St., West Chester, PA. (610) 696-1181  www.DellaFH.com followed by her Memorial Service at 12:30 PM.

Interment will be private.

A reception will follow the service at Christine’s home from 2:00-5:00 at 231 Fox Run, Exton, PA.
