Charles DiMarco Obituary

Charles M. DiMarco, 79 of West Chester, PA died on Thursday, March 25, 2021 at Chester County Hospital, West Chester, PA.

He was the husband of Patricia A. Thompson DiMarco.

Born July 7, 1941 in West Chester, PA he was the son of the late Carlo DiMarco and the late Vincenzia "Jenny" DiMarco.

He graduated in 1959 from West Chester High School, where he played many sports. In his senior year, he played on the basketball team that went undefeated and became 1959 Ches-Mont Champions. 

Charlie went on to play basketball at Goldey-Beacom College, Wilmington, DE where he earned his Associate’s Degree. He then earned his Bachelor’s Degree from Upper Iowa University, Fayette, IA.

Working for many years as a Pennsylvania State Constable, Charlie was always available for the District Courts and Local Police Departments.

Charlie was a founding Board Member and Inductee of the Chester County Sports Hall of Fame. He also served on the Board of Directors of the Keystone State Games/Senior Games,

A legendary softball player, Charlie was well known all over the Tri-State Area and was inducted into the Pennsylvania Softball Hall of Fame.

He was the former Athletic Director of St. Agnes School, West Chester, PA and former assistant coach of the West Chester University Men’s Basketball Team.

Charlie was a lifelong parishioner of St. Agnes Church and was the former manager of the Italian Social Club, West Chester, PA. He enjoyed playing Bocce and could also be found on many Pickle Ball courts around Chester County.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by his sisters, Mary Versagli of Kennett Square, PA and Dorothy Bruno of West Chester, PA, numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews. 

He was preceded in death by his siblings, Frank DiMarco, Donald DiMarco and Amelia "Dolly" Pizzi

Visitation will be held 9:00 am - 10:45 am Saturday April 3, 2021 at DellaVecchia, Reilly, Smith and Boyd Funeral Home, 410 N. Church St., West Chester, PA 19380 610.696.1181 www.DellaFH.com 

Memorial Service will begin at 11:00 am. Due to COVID restrictions, the Memorial Service is limited to family and invited close friends.

Interment will be private.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Brandywine Valley SPCA, 1212 Phoenixville Pike, West Chester, PA 19380 and/or West Chester University Men’s Basketball Scholarship Fund.
