Cecile E. Benford

Cecile E. Benford, 96 of Malvern, PA passed away Tuesday November 12, 2024 at Paoli Hospital in Paoli.

She was the wife of the late John Quinn Benford.

Born June 3, 1928 in Belgium, she was the daughter of Anna and Gerard DeMaeght. 

Cecile grew up in Belgium outside Ghent and lived through the German occupation during WWII. 

She worked as a Montessori Teacher for 66 years most recently at the Brandywine Children’s House. 

Cecile was a member of the American Montessori Society. 

She enjoyed teaching young children, cooking, crocheting and gardening. 

Cecile is survived by her son, Joseph M. Benford, daughters, Mary P. Goff and Rose Botella. 

She was preceded in death by her parents and four siblings.  

A Celebration of Life will be announced at a later date. 

Interment will be in private.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the National Audubon Society.
