Catherine Mary Perks

Catherine M. Perks (nee Medzie) passed away on June 8, 2021 at the age of 87.  She was born in Morrisdale, PA to the late George & Helen (nee Paddock) Medzie.  She was a long-time resident of Holmes and more recently of West Chester, PA.

She was predeceased by her beloved husband of 56 years, Robert W. Perks. 

She is survived by her son Robert W. (Linda) Perks, Jr., daughter Karen J. (William) Stolle, daughter Denise A. (James) Howell, son Douglas G. Perks; brother Charles Medzie; grandchildren Ashley, Janice, Kathleen, William, Michelle, Christopher, Jamie, Stephanie, Douglas; great-grandchildren Mason, Cameron, Cammy, Braelyn, Landon, and Ella with one more due any day.  Her growing family remains a testament to the love and warmth she exhibited throughout her life, always willing to share her delicious cookies, predictions about future children, and her zest for life.

The job she cherished most was raising her family. She volunteered for many organizations that involved her children including scouting and Kedron Youth Association.  She also worked many jobs including Lou’s Pizza and for Wawa’s corporate office before settling into a career at Taylor Hospital in 1978. Starting as a registrar in the ER department, she then became the supervisor for various departments.  She was “proud of the rapport I had with all my co-workers who were always there to help you out when needed.”  She was most recently a volunteer at Hershey Mill Community TV offices. 

Catherine loved spending time with her family and friends.  She also enjoyed crocheting, reading, traveling, and baking, especially Christmas cookies, hosting parties, watching Hallmark movies, and passionately cheering for the Phillies and Eagles.   

Relatives and Friends are invited to her visitation on Thursday, July 8, 2021 from 9:30 am - 10:45 am at SS. Peter & Paul Church 1325 E. Boot Rd. West Chester, PA 19380; followed by her Funeral Service at 11:00 am.

Interment will be in SS. Peter & Paul Cemetery Springfield, PA.
