Barbara R. Salvitti, 66, of West Chester, PA, passed away peacefully at her home on Wednesday, August 20, 2025. She was the beloved wife of Stephen J. Salvitti for over 40 years.
Born on January 5, 1959, in Danbury, CT, she was the daughter of the late Richard David Nowak and Sarah Abraham Nowak. Barbara was a proud graduate of Bucknell University, where she excelled as a collegiate basketball player. Throughout her life, she remained a passionate and successful athlete, from the basketball court to the competitive tennis court.
Later in life, Barbara’s passions were centered on her family, faith, and the simple joys of life. An extraordinary cook, she found great happiness in gathering her family around the table for meals filled with laughter, conversation, and love. She meticulously tended to her garden, finding peace in the beauty of nature. Her unwavering faith was a guiding light for her and her entire family, with Christ at the heart of everything she did. She also dedicated years to her work as a wellness practitioner, lifting up her community through better health, spirituality, and faith.
In addition to her husband, Stephen, Barbara is survived by her loving children: Matthew (Adrianne), Brian (Mary), Jeffrey (Taylor), Andrew (Annie), and Alissa (Matt). She was a cherished grandmother to twelve grandchildren and a dear sister to Patricia Debski, Jackie Taglianetti, and Elizabeth Nowak.
Relatives and friends are invited to her visitation on Tuesday, August 26, 2025, from 8:30 am to 9:45 am at St. Agnes Church, 233 W. Gay St., West Chester, PA 19380, followed by her Funeral Mass at 10:00 am. Interment will be in Oaklands Cemetery, West Chester, PA.
