Anna M. Belzer

Anna M. Belzer, 88, of Glen Mills, PA, died Sunday, April 30, 2023 at the Rose Court nursing facility in the Maris Grove senior living community.

Called ‘Ann’ by the many who knew and loved her, she was the wife of the late James F. Belzer. They were married at St. Augustine’s Church in Ocean City, NJ, on February 10, 1973.

Born May 15, 1934 in Philadelphia, PA she was the daughter of the late Nelson B. Smith and the late Anna McCallen Smith. Ann grew up on Rockland St. in the Germantown neighborhood of Philadelphia, and graduated from Germantown High School.

She started her career in administration in 1953 at the electrical technology firm Leeds and Northrup in Philadelphia, PA. Over the following years she worked as the manager of the Port-O-Call hotel in Ocean City, NJ, and as a truss designer for a roofing company in the early 1980s, utilizing early computer-aided drafting computer systems. Ann also managed the day-to-day administration and scheduling of Keller Bus Service, which held the contracts for most of the school districts in southern Maryland, and ran a large charter bus operation. She later worked at Action Travel Agency in Waldorf, MD. Lastly, Ann worked as an administrator for the City of Ocean City, NJ from 2000 to 2005.

Anna was a member of many Catholic churches over the years, most notably Our Lady Help of Christians in Waldorf, MD and Sacred Heart in Camden, NJ.

She enjoyed watching television, but her greatest joy was gathering with friends, near and far.

Ann is survived by her son, James N. Belzer, his wife, Lindsay, and their children, T. J. and Sean; and her daughter, Lyn Belzer, her husband, Torberg, and their child, Brigid.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Jim; her parents, Nelson and Anna; her brothers, Bud, Thomas, and Joseph; and her sister, Marie.

Relatives and friends are invited to her visitation on Monday, May 8, 2023 from 10:00 am - 10:45 am at St. Norbert Church 50 Leopard Road Paoli, PA 19301, followed by her Funeral Mass at 11:00 am.

Interment will be private.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Maris Grove Resident Fund, 200 Maris Grove Way, Glen Mills, PA 19342 or to the Society of St. Columban.
