Andrew (Bud) Francis McFadden Jr., 91 of West Chester, PA passed away Tuesday March 31, 2026 at Morningside House in Exton, PA.
He was the husband of Barbara A. McFadden (Neilan, retired MD) a dedicated and loving wife of 32 years.
Born July 6, 1934 in Philadelphia, PA he was the son of the late Andrew Francis McFadden and the late Eleanor Theresa (Kopp) McFadden.
Bud grew up in West Philadelphia and graduated from West Catholic High School in 1953, where he quickly made his mark as a standout athlete. A key member and co-captain of the West Catholic “Burrs” football team and a contributor to the track and field program from 1951 to 1953, Bud’s strength and determination were evident early on. In 1951, he earned All-Catholic First Team honors and was named an All-Star on the undefeated Burrs squad that captured the Catholic League title. He continued to excel in track and field, becoming the Shot Put Champion in 1953 at the 11th Annual Camden Meet at Convention Hall, setting school records along the way.
After graduation, Bud took his talents to the University of Tennessee, where he played offensive guard wearing number 68. Known for being quick on his feet and tough on the line, he competed before the roaring crowds of Neyland Stadium and held his own among top players of the era. His strong performance earned him a varsity letter in 1955 and consideration for All-American honors.
Bud went on to build a career spanning more than 30 years in the manufacturing industry. He held a variety of leadership roles in human resources, including consultant, plant manager, and union contract negotiator. Known for his principled approach, empathy, and ability to bring people together, he earned the respect of colleagues across organizations such as ITE Circuit Breaker Company, Boeing, and DentalEZ. He owned and operated an HR Consultant business and a home décor retail store, The Oak Tree, in West Chester, PA.
Above all, Bud will be remembered for his sense of humor and the joy he brought to those around him. He loved to laugh, tell a good story, and spend time with family and friends. A true character with a quick wit, he was an artist at heart and a natural fixer of things, always finding ways to improve and add beauty to his home and surroundings.
In addition to his wife Barbara, Andrew is survived by children, Michael McFadden (Samana), Karen Klosinski (Mike), Joanne McManus (Peter), James McFadden (Amy Zimmerman), Thomas McFadden and Christopher Franciosa (Angie); grandchildren, Lauren (Brian), Peter Jr., Michelle, Michael, Kevin, Joey, Billy.
He was preceded in death by his first wife Joan (Hoffman) and siblings, John McFadden and Daniel McFadden.
Relatives and friends are invited to his visitation on Wednesday, April 8, 2026 from 10:00 am - 10:45 am at St. Maximilian Kolbe Church 15 East Pleasant Grove Rd West Chester, PA 19382, followed by his Funeral Mass at 11:00 am.
Interment will be in Birmingham Lafayette Cemetery West Chester, PA.
