Andrea Hornett, 76 of Exton, PA passed away Tuesday June 18, 2024 at Paoli Hospital in Paoli.
Born July 17, 1947 in Gloversville, NY she was the daughter of the late Ace Hornett and the late Arlene Hornett.
Andrea graduated from Mt. Holyoke College in 1969 with a double major in Political Science and Economics. She was the first elected dorm president in the history of the school and led the language dorm during her senior year.
After graduation, Andrea went into government service in Washington D.C. in the President’s Office of Management & Budget as the first female budget examiner in the history of the natural resources program. She came to Pennsylvania in 1972 as the special assistant to the President’s personal representative for flood recovery.
Andrea subsequently married and moved to Pennsylvania living in Wayne. While there, she worked in pharmaceuticals and biotech and completed a Master’s at the University of Pennsylvania in 1990. In 1994, she began in the doctoral program in Organizational Learning at The George Washington University which culminated in an appointment on the business faculty at Temple University where she taught business strategy for many years.
During her academic career, Andrea published numerous peer reviewed research articles and made three trips to Oxford University as an invited research presenter. Among her accolades are citations from the President of the United States for federal service as well as a teaching award from the President of Temple University.
In retirement, Andrea enjoyed creative writing and her 40 poems on the Covid experience were published in the Penn State Covid Project. She also enjoyed the times she got to sing with the Surrey Services for Seniors Chorus.
Andrea leaves behind her beloved stepdaughter, Diane, along with Diane’s amazing daughter Kaiya and her beloved niece Michelle Hornett Quesada.
