Allen William McCann 3rd

Allen William McCann 3rd, 82 of Thornton, PA passed away Sunday, August 30, 2020 at home.

Born July 1, 1938 in Ridley Park, PA, he was the son of the late Allen W. McCann Jr. and the late Emma Carpenter McCann, of Thornton, PA. 

Allen enjoyed spending time with his family, camping, and working security at Atlanta Motor Speedway. He was an EMT & CPR instructor with Good Fellowship Ambulance for twenty years. He especially enjoyed volunteering for Dr. Hal Fillinger for the medical examiner’s office. He was a volunteer firefighter for Concordville & Fame Fire Companies.

Allen worked for Hercules Research Center, Delaware, for thirty-five years in the Information Technology division and was also a Merchant Seaman for Sun Oil.
Closer to home, Allen volunteered for Thornbury Township, Delaware County PA as a member of the: Planning Commission, Chairman of the Environmental Advisory Council, assistant Emergency Management Coordinator, and a member of the Sheriff Reserve unit. 

Allen is survived by his wife of 43 years, Maureen McCann, his children Allen William McCann 4th, Susan Martha Miller, Amy Lee Matherly (Michael), Jeffrey Michael McCann (Kelly), Steven John McCann (Heather), his brother Harry C. McCann, Sr. (Barbara) living in Georgia, eleven grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Donna Joan.

Services and interment will be private.
