Alfred E. Mercer, Jr., 75 of Gap, PA passed away Friday March 21, 2025 at Chester County Hospital in West Chester.
Born September 8, 1949 in West Chester, PA he was the son of the late Alfred E. Mercer and the late Clara DeHaven.
Al grew up in Berwyn, Pennsylvania, where he attended Conestoga High School. Later becoming a volunteer firefighter for his community
He served in the United States Army. In Germany, he was a tank commander that patrolled the border during the Cold War.
Over the course of his career, he held several jobs, including working as a truck driver for DeVault Foods. Later, he started his own business, Al Mercer Delivery Service, where he proudly served as a dedicated courier.
He enjoyed spending time with his loved ones, taking camping trips in the mountains and spending much of his free time playing his guitar and ukulele. Al was an animal lover with White German Shepard's as pets throughout his life, that he considered to be man’s best friend. In his younger years, Al traveled in style, with many miles on the road either by tractor trailer, motorcycle, or one of his many muscle cars.
He is survived by his ex-wife, Rosemary Mercer, daughters, Dawn (Robert) Gillespie, Cindi (Craig) Felice and Bridgette (Steven) Mercer-Jamgochian, as well as son, Alexander Mercer and many loving nieces and nephews.
The family will be sharing the details of a celebration of life to be held in the near future.
