With deep sorrow we announce that Yong Suk Choi, age 49, beloved son, brother, uncle and family member passed after battling pancreatic cancer with courage and quiet dignity on Wednesday, November 13, 2019 at his home in Delaware.
Yong was born in South Korea, the first-born son and eldest of three children of Gea Chang Choi and the late Myung Ja Choi of West Chester, Pennsylvania.
Yong will be missed every day by his father, his two sisters, Young Choi Leahy and Young Joo Choi; his niece, Grace Myung Leahy and many aunts, uncles and cousins.
Yong was the son of immigrant parents who moved to Los Angeles in 1975. He graduated from MacArthur High School in Lawton, Oklahoma and Penn State University with a degree in business. Yong served in the United States Navy as Lieutenant from 1991 to 2002. Yong continued to serve in the Federal Government as a security engineer until months before his passing.
Yong had a passion for learning and loved to travel and explore new places. His love of learning united with determination and integrity afforded him many opportunities throughout his life. He was self-taught in many things and became well versed in the history of his own and foreign countries. He was devoted to his family and proud of his heritage.
Yong is now at peace surrounded in perfect love reunited with his beloved mother in heaven.
Relatives and Friends are invited to his visitation on Saturday, November 23, 2019 from 2-3 pm at the DellaVecchia, Reilly, Smith & Boyd Funeral Home, Inc., 410 North Church Street, West Chester, PA 19380; followed by his Memorial Service at 3:00pm.
Interment will be held in Private.
