Theodosios "Ted" Bay

Theodosios "Ted" Bay, 88 passed away on Monday, August 12, 2019 in his home at Shannondell at Valley Forge in Audubon, PA.

He was the husband of the late Ann Lee DeNoe Bay.

Born April 22, 1931 in Montreal, Canada, he was the son of Nicholas Bay and Efpraxia Moskokonides Bay.

Ted attended McGill University and later was awarded a scholarship for a master’s and PhD program at Princeton for chemical engineering.

His long career with Exxon Mobil in research and development sent him on projects to Saudi Arabia, Norway, the Netherlands, Singapore, Australia, Japan, London, and various oil refineries in the U.S.  As a research scientist, he also obtained patents throughout his career. In 1999, he proudly became an American citizen with his grandchildren present. 

Growing up in Canada, Ted developed a passion for hockey that he brought to the United States. In his retirement, he was also an avid Bridge player and enjoyed sharing a love of the game with his friends. His greatest joy came from many celebrations shared with family and friends.

Ted is survived by his children Jennifer Gensemer (Jack), Nicholas Bay (Kimberly) and Susan Friel (David). He will be forever remembered by his grandchildren, Alexandra, Harry, Noah, Annie and James. 

In addition to his wife, he was predeceased by his sister Maria Givas of Poughkeepsie, NY. He is survived by his brother Demetrios (Jim) Bay.

Relatives and friends are invited to his visitation on Thursday, August 15, 2019 from 12-1:00 pm at St. Sophia Greek Orthodox Church, 900 S. Trooper Rd., Norristown, PA 19403, followed by his funeral service at 1:00 pm.

Interment will be held privately in Cherry Hill, NJ.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to St. Sophia Greek Orthodox Church at the above address.
