The Honorable Thomas A. Pitt, Jr.

The Honorable Thomas A. Pitt, Jr. age 85 of West Chester, PA passed away Saturday, April 14, 2018 at Brandywine Hospital, Coatesville, PA.

He was the husband of the late Eileen Murphy “Nana” Pitt.

Born in West Chester, PA on February 26, 1933 he was the son of Thomas Anthony Pitt and Lillian O’Connell Pitt.

Tom was a citizen of both the USA and Ireland. He graduated from St. Agnes Grade School, St. Agnes High School, Villanova University and Villanova Law School. 

Tom served as a Captain in the US Marine Corps as a Naval Aviator who flew jet fighters and helicopters. He served 10 years as Judge of the Common Pleas Court of Chester County before returning to private practice, retiring from the firm Pitt and Pitt in 2007.

Tom served as an Adjunct Professor of Immaculata University, Alvernia College, West Chester University and the Delaware Law School.

He Served as Executive Vice Chair and Member of the Board of Trustees at Immaculata University and was a member of the Board of Trustees of Malvern Preparatory School. Tom was a member of West Chester Golf and Country Club and Concord Country Club and served as President of Concord Country Club, where he enjoyed many rounds of golf with Eileen and their friends.

He was a lifelong parishioner of St. Agnes Church where he sang in the choir and was Chairman of the Bicentennial Committee.

He is survived by his children, Thomas Anthony Pitt III (Laura); Joan Eileen Pitt (Christopher); James Keeley Pitt (Katie); Terence McGary Pitt and Michael O’Connell Pitt (Nancy). Grandchildren:  Shannon McLeod Pitt; Thomas Anthony Pitt IV; Julia Kearney Pitt; Katherine Murphy Pitt; Garrett Christopher Pitt; Gabriele Eileen Pitt; Gavin Shumway Pitt; Evan Michael Pitt; Susannah Eileen Pitt and Liam Andrew Pitt.

In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by his siblings, Mary Catherine Dalton and Terence Pitt.

Relatives and friends are invited to his Visitations on Wednesday, April 18, 2018 from 5:00 pm – 8:00 pm at DellaVecchia, Reilly, Smith & Boyd Funeral Home, 410 N. Church St. West Chester, PA 610.696.1181 www.DellaFH.com and on Thursday April 19, 2018 from 9:00 am – 10:00 am at St. Agnes Church, 233 W. Gay St. West Chester, PA; followed by his Funeral Mass at 10:00 am.

Interment will be in St. Agnes Cemetery West Chester, PA.
