I am very sorry to hear of the passing of Sister Mary Dee. I was one of her first grade students at St. Laurence School the year before she left for Peru. She made a big impact on my life. She was so full of joy and happiness. I remember in kindergarten and I saw her and I said I want to be a sister just like her! Although I do not think I will become a sister anymore, she did bring me closer to God. The day of my baptism in 8th grade, I remember thinking of her and hoping she'd be proud of me. I wouldn't be who I am if she hadn't been in my life. Sister Mary Dee was a light to this world and now heaven has gained an angel. God bless you.

It was very sad to here of the loss of such a great person as Mary Dee. I have great memories of her as a student at IHS. Her smile and the sparkle in her eyes could light up the classroom. I still remember the day she told me that she was going to join the religious order as a sister. I was glad to read that she did go on to do great things. With a sincere sense of sadness I wish the entire Ellis family peace. Mr. DeFilippis

My condolences to Sister Mary Dee’s parents and family, as well as to the Sisters of IHM. I met Sister Mary Dee in Peru and she was always full of joy and enthusiasm. She was shining with happiness, literally. Always with that beautiful big smile. Her beauty was both physical and spiritual. Such sad news, indeed. She will be missed.

Sister Mary Dee has been a friendly, sincere inspiration to all who came into contact with her. Here at Villa Maria House of Studies, she made doing things for her and Formation a sincere pleasure and showed a sincere gratitude. I will very much miss her spirit, smile and friendly presence. She made my job and all the men in maintenance a gratifying experience. Now the Lord has her soul and spirit to help shed a new light on us now. We are sad but have a joy for her in her new eternal life.

My deepest condolences to the Ellis Family and the IHM community on the passing of Sister Mary D. I was privileged and blessed to work with Sister at St. Laurence School and remember her fondly. She brought so much joy and enthusiasm to her work and it was contagious. Her kindness, professional manner, and love of life extended not only to her students but to all of us who worked with her. The world has lost an extraordinary woman and heaven has gained an angel.
