Rita Giacinto Obituary

Rita T. Giacinto, 92 of West Chester, PA died Wednesday September 12, 2018 in West Chester.

She was the wife of Ernest R. Giacinto, who predeceased her in 2013. They were married for 67 years. After her husband’s passing, she lived with her son Ronald and his family who cared for her until she was reunited with her husband.

She is survived her two sons Ronald and Stephen Giacinto of Chester County, her two sisters Antoinette and Dolly. They were three peas in a pod.  

She is also survived her six grandchildren Donna, Denise, Lindsay Ann, Dimitri, Melani and Jason and her four great grandchildren, Gianna, Marissa, Ryan and Evan, many nieces and nephews and her Goddaughter Jane.

She was predeceased by her daughter Lorraine, sister Mary and brothers Tony and Raymond.

Rita attended Camel Elementary School, Bartlett Jr High and Southern High School in Philadelphia.  She aided the war effort during World War II, by working on the ships as one of South Philadelphia’s own “Rita the Riveter”. After the war she then assumed her role as a faithful wife and loving mother for the next few decades.

After her children were grown she worked in South Philly as an elevator operator at Merlin Towers, then worked at Suburban Cable and aided in her son’s family business.

Mom enjoyed spending time with her best friend Lillian, her sisters and in-laws.  She enjoyed playing cards, taking trips to the shore and Michigan. She also loved the casino, doing scratch off lottery tickets, cruising, shopping at Boscov’s and watching her soap operas. She was also an avid fan of the Phillies and Mummers.

Relatives and Friends are invited to her visitations on Wednesday September 19, 2018 from 7-9pm at the DellaVecchia, Reilly, Smith & Boyd Funeral Home, Inc. 410 North Church Street, West Chester, PA 610-696-1181 www. DellaFH.com and also on Thursday, September 20, 2018 from 9:30 am - 10:30 am at St. Maximilian Kolbe Church 15 East Pleasant Grove Rd West Chester followed by her Funeral Mass at 10:30am. Interment will be private.

In lieu of flowers donations will be accepted at the Good Will Fire Company 552 E. Union Street West Chester, PA 19382 and/or Good Fellowship Ambulance Club P.O. Box 361 West Chester, PA 19381
